UNIDEE – University of Ideas / RESÒ INTERNATIONAL NETWORK FOR ART RESIDENCIES AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

Da settembre a novembre 2016 le artiste Kirsten Farrell e Raneem Turjman sono state a vivere e lavorare a Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistoletto, frequentando i moduli settimanali di UNIDEE – University of Ideas, e producendo i loro lavori.
È stato chiesto loro di affrontare i temi principali del programma UNIDEE: research, gift and alteration (ricerca, regalo e alterazione).
Le residenze sono state concepite e progettate secondo la metodologia di UNIDEE, che unisce la pratica alla teoria, attraverso workshop, seminari e una serie di incontri, visite e viaggi di studio.

Kirsten Farrell e Raneem Turjman presenteranno i loro ricerche e i loro progetti il 9 novembre.

Le artiste sono in residenza a Cittadellarte grazie a: A M Qattan Foundation e RESÒ – Rete Internazionale per le residenze d’artista e e programmi educativi, in collaborazione con CCAS, Canberra Contemporary Art Space.
Le residenti sono state assistite nella loro ricerca e nella produzione dei loro lavori dall’ufficio UNIDEE – University of Ideas (Cecilia Guida, Giulia Crisci e Roberta Bernasconi) e dall’Ufficio Arte (Juan Esteban Sandoval).

Kirsten Farrell (1971, Canberra) is interested in reflecting on plastic as a simultaneously dangerous and precious material at the same time. It is the starting point for future research on everyday life materials, on waste and its possibilities for reuse, on manual labour as a way to evaluate a place, on the ambiguity of making art. Farrell worked in empathy with the context of the building, with the support of n.o.v.a civitas Architecture Office of Cittadellarte, exploring the dimension of encounters with people during the residency.

Raneem Turjman (1987, Jerusalem) worked on the idea of a distorted selfportrait, starting from her feelings during the residency, looking into the transformative state she found herself in: be it artist, traveller, tourist, or documentarian. She situated herself in different times and spaces and attempt to make sense of the identity changes in each sphere. She worked on a short video, gathering together her own visions of the place along with others’ perception of herself.
