an idea for piazza cisterna / meeting points

Yellow, arches, history, balconies, stones, old city, colours, building, walls, frescos, materials, traditions, gates, stories, and finally sky, blue just blue... no people around... just me... do i belong to here... maybe there is a trace for me somewhere here no? nobody? nothing? where are the people...? silence... water... silence... water... there should be someone... but what to say... how to say something... how to learn about here...? i am fascinated, nothing to say maybe but something to share... no talking... no languages... just sharing the same moment... looking... signs...

Grey, stones... yellow, walls... what is there behind them? Which stories...? which lives...? who lived here...? who is living now...? do i really want to know...? really? maybe to be a part of here...? and now again sky... this blue is covering me here...

This is how the story starts... this mysterious ambience made me end up again in the Piazzo, searching there... and everytime i ask questions i found something interesting, there were lots of stories about here. However just the local people were interested in these. It is not used even for passing as a result of its location. On the contrary it is used as a parking space which ruins its beauty. Hopefully they have started to build a place for cars nearby the Piazzo. It was really nice to learn this because it solved my real problem. But i was also interested in how people had used here before... my questions... answers... stories... books... maps... drawings... notes; cantinas, storages, catacombs, tunnels, water, bourgeois, arches, frescos, art, perspective... I looked, looked, read, drew, thought... pictures... stones... walls... sky... stones... walls... sky... there is something with these... They had established the city on the top, then they had covered it by walls, and finally they used the underground for their basic requirements.

Therefore, my first approach started to be clear in my mind... I would like to make people also use the underground... Cleaning the dirts and creating galleries, studios, or maybe wine stores as it had been used in the past. Since nobody has done anything about the cantinas and the tunnels underground, i couldn't get much informations about them.

My other idea is not only about the Piazza Cisterna but also the park near Piazzo. I wanted to create a public space which is really like a "piazzo". Because i had to consider that this is a part of culture, to meet in the public spaces, spending time, doing something with friends... Generally the public spaces are the points of communication. However, it wasn't true for the piazza Cisterna. In this case, i have tried to design a space, street furniture that will allow people to communicate accidentally, naturally... The idea for this furniture has been "no communication , no geography" and my concept is based on language, the basic material for communication. So, every seats would have an identity of one language with different colours and on the top there will be world map showing the countries in which that language is official. Thus, these seats would be our tongues to talk (sort of language)... And also creating a screen which will be used as a forum by people to argue about topics, share ideas, writing notes in the public space. This screen also will be linked to this seats to think about a topic to write on the defined places around the seats. In this case, if the person moves the seat depending on his/her idea about thet topic, the people who are sitting nearby would turn, too. So this simple, short movement starts long conversations, arguements, discussions...
In consequence, these ideas for creating and renovating Piazzo as a public space where people really want to go, spend time, meet, have fun, meet the art, visit galleries, draw sketches...
