Cittadellarte will present its activities on Thursday May the 30th from 3:30 to 6:00 pm in the session: Laboratory Europe world café: Connecting local experiences in revitalising democracy
This session proposes to link the local to the global using case studies from five civil society organisations whose projects are currently supported by foundations: Future Academy (Stiftung Mercator); Doc Next Network (European Cultural Foundation); BENISI project (Fondazione Cariplo); Cittadellarte Fondazione Pistoletto (Compagnia di San Paolo) and The Agency (Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian). All of the projects address the gap between citizens, democratic institutions and processes. However, they also show how local initiatives are going a long way to engage people in revitalising democracy, in reclaiming the public space and our commons. The projects will be presented according to the Pecha Kucha method and then, in smaller conversation tables, participants will reflect on three main questions: How can local cultural initiatives revitalise democratic participation and reclaim public space?; why is it important to connect local initiatives across national and sectoral boundaries?; and how can foundations help to upscale local initiatives into change-making networks?
