RES.O’

RES.Ò è un nuovo  network di collaborazione internazionale per residenze d’artista e programmi di formazione, con base in Piemonte.
E’ concepito come progetto triennale e coinvolge tre istituzioni italiane e tre basate in India, Egitto e Brasile.

Since 1998, Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto has run the UNIDEE in Residence International Programme.

UNIDEE is an interdisciplinary program, open to all creative professionals, from visual artists to cultural actors, designers to architects and all those whose practice centres around taking a responsible stance in society.

UNIDEE
seeks to explore the relationship between Art and Society and fosters the role of artists and creative practitioners as activators for a responsible social change in society.

Res.ò residence fits into UNIDEE.

The Res.ò resident will be integrated into the UNIDEE residents' group.

S/he will follow also a specific track that will not only lead her/him to contact (and possibly liaise) with most constituencies of Biella and most cultural hotspots of Turin (what is also part of UNIDEE scope), but also to specifically investigate the Res.ò partnership's mission and background, by exchanging dialogue with programs coordinators of involved art spaces.
During UNIDEE in Residence International Programme there are weekly seminars and a series of workshops with experts from various fields, such as economics, sustainable architecture, sociology and general culture, as well as studio visits and meetings with art critics and curators.

Trips and excursions will be organised according to the programme schedule.

Moreover, the participants will have the opportunity to create close links and possible collaborations with other offices of Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto during their stay.

The participants will be working in a collective environment (no individual studios will be allocated) where, beyond the personal projects, collaborative practices are strongly encouraged, as well as exploring and engaging in initiatives and actions in the city of Biella and its surroundings and Piedmont.

Open Studio
The residency culminates in an open studio day, the UNIDEE in Progress, in which the participants show the work-in-progress that they have developed during their stay. The UNIDEE in Progress focuses on the process of feedback and encourages interaction and dialogue between the participants and the audience.

Education and Outreach
Depending on the experience, practice and interests of the participants, UNIDEE can encourage the design and conduct of educational and outreach projects with community groups.

Programme
During the programme, residents attend lectures and project presentations from Tuesday through to Thursday, leaving Mondays, Fridays and the weekend free for individual project development. Beyond the regular program, Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto arranges opportunities to meet and collaborate with experts as well as local partners, including companies, neighbourhoods, schools, institutions and councils.

A number of computers are also available to the residents who are not able to bring their own. These are equipped with standard open-source software. If specialised software is required for a project it should be brought by the individual resident. A Mac G5 with video editing software is also available in the UNIDEE space, to be shared between the residents, as well as a communal laser colour printer and a scanner. Multimedia material will also be made available for the residents during the period of the residency, such as a video camera 3CCD (broadcast quality), a video projector and a tape reader.

Location
Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto is located in the city of Biella, a provincial capital located in the northern Italian region of Piedmont, situated in the foothills of the Alps. The province of Biella is known for its beautiful landscapes as well as its important role in the history of the Italian textile industry. Its main tourist attractions are the Sacred Mountain of Oropa, La Panoramica Zegna and the ski resort of Bielmonte. Biella is located about 80km from the cities of Turin and Milan. It is recommended to bring clothing that suits the warm months from June to August, but also winter clothing such as coats, gloves and hats for September and October, as the weather rapidly changes and can become incredibly cold.
RES.Ò2, residenza a Cittadellarte

RES.Ò is dedicated to supporting its resident artists in the creation of new works of art through 6-9 week long research-residencies. All of the artists’ expenses are covered, including airfare. They will be introduced to the local art scene through a program of meetings, studio visits and talks. The selected artists are expected to hold public presentations of their work towards the end of their residency.
