Raphaëlle de Groot, Unidee resident in 2002, participates in the Venice Biennale 2013.
On the initiative of Louise Déry, director of the UQAM Gallery and thanks to financial support from the CALQ, the artist will present the original performance "Esercizi veneziani" ("Venetian Exercises") at the opening of the Biennale.
Raphaëlle de Groot will make a two-stage performance in front of the visitors of the Biennale. For the first part, presentation and transformation, in the Giardini dell’Arsenale the artist will walk, transformed, through the site of the Biennale and the docks nearby. Then, in the second part of the performance, Raphaëlle de Groot will reach the dock, from which she will go along rowing on a gondola, wavering, on the water.
